The greatest story ever told begins with these simple words: "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." In this passage, we see that God, the Sovereign King, creates a kingdom that is orderly and good. As we consider his creation, we also reflect on the good character of the creator. How should we respond?

You can learn a lot about a passage of scripture by noting the repetition of words and phrases. What words and phrases are repeated in Genesis 1:1-2:3 and why are they significant?
How does God create? What does this tell us about who he is?
What does the order and rhythm of the creation narrative communicate about God?
HEART: Questions aimed at our affections to help us love God
When it comes to creation, we are tempted toward to extremes - to worship creation or to despise creation. What alternative does Genesis 1 give to these two extremes?
Consider all of the revelations of God’s character in Genesis 1. How does this stir you to love God more?
God created man to share in his goodness and blessing. How can we experience the blessing of God’s presence today?

Genesis 1 gives us a glimpse of the power of God’s Word. What are some practical ways you can experience the power of God’s word in your everyday life? Give examples.
Is God still in the business of creation today? If so, how? Give practical examples (Consider your own testimony of new life in Christ, the future new creation, etc.)
When was the last time you were so in awe of the beauty of creation that you were led to worship Him?
