In Esther 2:1-18 we are introduced to two main characters, Mordecai and Esther. We see Esther rise from a position of obscurity to become queen of Persia. We continue to see the Lord’s sovereignty over all situations, even and especially in our fallen world.

Take a look at 2:6. How many times is it mentioned that Mordecai was “carried away”? What is the significance of this?

It is mentioned that Esther “obtained favor in the sight of all who saw her” (v15). Does this remind you of anyone else in the Bible? (Hint: Genesis 39:4; 1 Samuel 2:26; 1 Samuel 16:21-22)
